The Creative Economy Project Support program encourages dynamic partnerships among cultural, business and public sectors to help communities address cultural and economic development goals through a wide variety of creative placemaking initiatives. This highly competitive program leverages the creative assets intrinsic in Kansas communities to stimulate the local economy, strengthen the role of arts and culture, promote regional identity and enhance the quality of life for its citizens. Funds may be used to support a single activity or a suite of related activities that are not already supported through a current KCAIC program. Successful applications will include:

  • Demonstration of a strong commitment to inter-sector collaboration
  • Community engagement in economic and community development using other funding sources
  • An active network of cultural nonprofits and involved citizens
  • Planning and oversight by non-profit arts organizations and implementation with community partners
  • A designated community member to serve as coordinator to communicate with the public and partners

Applicants must also demonstrate excellent artistic, educational and cultural value; responsiveness to their community; credible planning and evaluation strategies; long term economic impact; and rigorous financial and managerial accountability.

  • Initial Application Deadline: September 5, 2014
  • Full Application Deadline: November 7, 2014
  • Project Phase Start Date: after January 1, 2015
  • Project Phase Completion Date: before December 31, 2015
